Family

Family: Margarett Dee (b. about 1375)

Main Events

  • Birth: David Bostock was born about 1375 in Churton, Cheshire, England.3
  • ARMS: He; This is the start of the Bostock of Churton line, and possibly also the start of the Bostocks of Holt, Aldford and London lines . David was the second son of Sir Adam Bostock - which explains why his arms were Sable, a fesse humette Argent, a crescent for difference. He may be the same " David Bostock of Churton " who was exempted from the general pardon issued to the people of Cheshire on 23 January 1399 by King Henry IV, being one of 26 men considered to be too dangerous and set in their ways. Strangely, two names are missing from the list of exempt men - namely Adam de Bostock and Ralph de Davenport yet both Adam's and Ralph's cousins are mentioned. This may be the David Bostock who was granted letters of protection in the Spring of 1399 for the inspection of men aged 16-60 for service in Ireland. A David Bostock of Burton was considered to be too dangerous to receive the general pardon issued on 23 January in 1399 to the people of Cheshire by King Henry IV. [:CR:]4
  • Residence: About 1375 David Bostock lived in Churton, Cheshire, I understand that he may have been the first Bostock to settle in this village.
  • Reference: There is a Reference to David Bostock in my archives dated in 1395 He occurs as surety for his brother Adam in the sum of 200 pounds to keep the peace towards the Abbott of Vale Royal and then 3 years later occurs as an archer in King Richard II's bodyguard.
  • Residence: He resided in Churton, Farndon, Holt & Woodhead, in 1399.5
  • Milit-Beg: He joined the military as an archer in the bodyguard of Richard II and went to Ireland in that capacity.
